78 gs400 ignition coils
Are these coils http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=3207 a direct swap for the stock coils on my 78 gs400? I need new coils but I'd like to not have to drop $200+ on a set of new ones from bikebandit.

I am under the impression that bikes with points (basically '79 and older) use 5-ohm coils. Bikes with electronic ignitions ('80 and newer) use 3-ohm coils.
The coils in your link are 3 ohms, so I would say "no", they are not a direct replacement, unless your bike has been converted to electronic ignition.

I'm pretty sure you need a 5 ohm coil unless you use a 2 ohm ballast resistor with those 3 ohm coils.Comment

Thanks! I talked to the guy at Z-1 enterprizes and I will probably make the swap to the electronic ignition. Seems like that is the best way to go.Comment
