Sinice I have one of them on each of my bikes, too, I concur with the battery charger theory. 8-[
To assist you with your troubleshooting, here is a link to The Stator Papers.
It is a wonderfully easy troubleshooting chart that will locate your charging problem rather quickly.

Mr. raphy2,
Yep, that's a convenience plug. A lot of battery tenders can use that connector instead of clipping leads to the battery terminals themselves. If you're having charging problems, follow Mr. Steve's advice, read the Stator Papers and follow the troubleshooting guide. I've replaced the regulator/rectifier, stator, and battery on my bike. It should be years before I have another charging problem. If you find it necessary, I would recommend Mr. duaneage's Honda r/r replacement, an AGM battery, and I put on a new stator from RMStator.com (note that their ebay store may be a little cheaper). Rick's Motorsports and Electrex also make bike electricals, available from online retailers. Forgive me if I state the obvious.
Nice looking motorcycle you have there.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
