What kind of exhaust is it?

Hi folks,

Not sure if anyone can help. I bought a set of 4 into 2 pipes off ebay a couple years ago. They stayed in the box until recently when I pulled them out and tried to fit them to my bike. The seller claimed they were MAC pipes for a GS1000, which I have, bu the pipes are just a little shy on space between each exhaust outlet on the head, and the welded on mounting tabs on the tailpipes are too far forward - which leads me to believe the pipes are for a smaller bike. There are no brand or model# markings anywhere on the pipes.

Does anyone know of any resources out there on the web that give measurements for this sort of thing, so I can ID these pipes and re-sell them? They are decent pipes, heavily built and with good chrome. Just not for my bike!

Yeah, a picture and measurements would help!

The measurements are:

from pipe inlet to bend downward: ~5.25"

from bend downward to bend toward rear of bike: ~12"

from bend toward rear of bike to the center of the rear mounting tab, measured in a straight line - ~30.5"

Distance between centers of pipe inlets: 3.375-3.5"

pipe inlet diameters: 1.75" (outside edge of flange), 1.375" (ID)

mufflers are oval turnout cut, the smallest diameter is just under 2.5"

the rear mounting tab faces downward

the right pipe is on the top and the left on the bottom in the picture.

The inlet dimensions are right for a 1000 or an 850 i think, or at least they're close.....

I've got a 1980 GS1000G, and the pipes don't fit it. I could bend the header pipes apart to MAKE it fit, it's that close. But the rear tab doesn't correspond with my rear exhaust mount points at all. Can anyone confirm that the measurements I previously posted match their bike?

It appears to be real close to my 850L mountings, of course, the only problem is do they clear the oil drain plug without having to remove the exhaust for every oil change?

Hey Dan,

Here's a picture of the pipes propped up against each other so the exhaust inlets are all on a plane together (more or less) - I'd venture to say these pipes were designed to allow access to the oil filter without removal...

I would guess that they are for a Kawasaki, from the mount points. and are quite possibly Jardine headers
