tips busted off mixture/pilot fuel screw

Ok in my stupidity trying to adjust the mixture screw on the bottom of the carb on my 78 GS550 I must have over-tightened them and busted the tips of each one. I checked and the tips came out of the holes in each carb and are not blocked. The problem is I can't order them. I checked online and at several parts shops and all have the same fiche without a listing for them. They say that they should come in a carb rebuild kit but I already bought some for all 4 and they did not come in the kit. Does anyone know where you can find them.

I had the same thing happen on 1 of my carbs when I took them apart 3 years ago. Some of the kits have them, and some do not. I think this is where I got my kits. http://www.oldbikebarn.com/Motorcycl...arb-Repair-Kit

I don't remember for sure how I got the broken needle out.

      Motorcycle salvage place.
They usually have a wall full of carbs you can go through.

Try this kit on EBAY. Or do another search on ebay or on the internet for dealers that would sell a repro part.

The fuel screw is the item in the illustration third from the right, the one to the left of that is the air screw.

When I broke off two fuel screws in my 550 VM carbs I bought two carb kits from Z1 for the 750 - fuel screws are the same. Those Keyster kits look like the hot tip to me though. I'd go that way.

Yes, buy the kits. Or find rebuild kits for a 78 GS750. You can get the needles, but they are 16.00 each, so you might as well have some extra parts.

Or you could go to the salvage place and spend a couple bucks.

I wish we had a motorcycle salvage yard around here. The closest one to me is 150 miles away.:?
