    Frozen master cylinder

Hello, my master cylinder is frozen in the compressed position. How will i be able to free it up?

Front or back? Has it just frozen, or has it been standing and rusted in place?

      Nick,
you'll probably have to take the M/C off and take it apart to see what the parts inside look like. It sounds like something might be broken in there. That or just all dried up and need some cleaning. Let us know what you find.

You may be able to blow it back with a quick shot of compressed air where the banjo bolt manifold is. I'd use low pressure, 20-30 lbs at most to start with.

You can stick a small screwdriver in through the outlet port and push the piston backwards. Remove the circlip holding the piston in place first since you will have to replace it afterwards since it will get damaged. Before attempting to rebuild the master with a new piston, look closely at the bore; if there are any scratches in the bore, the master is junk.

          Good luck.

its the front break. I took what i could apart, the handle and the rubber boot thingy. I looked inside of it with a flashlight and it's pretty nasty. I cant tell if its rusty or gunky. The little piston / caliper thing in there is pretty darn stuck.

EDT- i got the thing to wiggle a little bit... just a little and nothing more. It might be just worth it to buy a replacement.
