Cold natured 16 valve GS 550

The wife's "85" 550 is terribly cold natured. Won't start below appx. 30 degrees, without startin fluid. After started takes a long time to get warmed up, even in the summer, I've read about other 16 valve 550's that are very cold natured. Are the 16 valve 550's any more cold natured than other GS's??

Sorry, I didn't make the question clear. I'm wanting to know if the 16 valve 550's are known to be more cold natured than other GS's. If all these 550's are this way, something needs to be changed from the original set up. If they all aren't worse than other GS's, I just need to get ours back to how it should be. Thanks.

yes they are cold hearted bastards.

not sure why you want to ride at or near the freezing point though.

          with full choke on
          without touching the throttle
if valves and carbs or in spec and clean respectively
          it should fire and start.
