Intake stud size for '83 GS1100GL?

So, I'm going to try studs instead of bolts for the intake boots in my quest to get a set of GSXR-600 throttle bodies mounted on my 1100. I know the threads are M6-1.0, but has anyone switched to studs/nuts instead of the original phillips or other screws. How long were the studs you used? Did you use regular-size nuts or did you find some "thin" ones? Did you screw the studs in till they bottomed out? Did you use anti-seize or Loc-Tite?

So far, my "educated guess" leads me to believe that a 20mm stud would work well and that anti-seize would probably be the right choice.

i havent done this myself, but i guess the easiest would be to put the intake boots on the head and then measure the total depth of the screw hole and add an extra 4-6mm for the nuts
    use loctite for the studs
use anti seize for the nuts
you can use acorn/dome nuts for the bling effect :-D

Yeah, finding out the proper depth myself is my next option since it appears no one here has switched to studs on the intake side. I was hoping someone would have an idea.

vernier caliper would do the job, but might not fit
take one bolt out and put a piece of stiff wire in and bend it at the top of the hole
take the wire out out and measure it
        shouldnt be that difficult

I have my reasons for wanting studs instead of bolts.

25mm M6-1.0 studs work really well and solved my throttle-body mounting issues.
