    Electrosport Rectifier Question

    Hey everyone.
    Thanks for the help with the no spark issue. I ordered some coils, and I'm just waiting for those to show up. I did test some other equipment to see if all was well and found the rectifier is also bad. I got a new one today but had some difficulty hooking it up.
    The original rectifier had a red power wire and a black and white ground, which is the same as the new one. The problem is that the old rectifier has 3 different coloured wires, where the new one has 3 yellow wires. I hooked power to the new one and there are 3 different voltages coming from each of the yellow wires, but I can't compare that to my old rectifier because when I tested the old one (which is no good) I got a really random reading with lots of spikes and drops.
    Any advice on how to make sure I don't hook it up wrong and blow things?

      The three yellow wires on the R/R are AC input. Connect them to the three yellow output wires that come from your stator. The red wire is 12v positive DC output. Connect that to battery positive. The black wire is 12v DC negative output. Connect that to battery negative.

          I know I could just plug the 3 yellow wires into the wires that I disconnected the old coil from. (There was a solid yellow, a White with red stripe, and a blue and white I think) The wiring diagram shows that 2 go to the stator, and another goes somewhere else on the bike (1980 GS550L) Since I'm pulling a different voltage reading from each wire, I would assume it does make a difference what one goes where. I don't want to feed too much through a component and fry it.

              The third wire connects into the headlight circuit.
