carb balance/backfire

have balanced carbs all are equal,keeps backfiring after shutdown,has kn individual filters,rejetted to 122 jets,new plugs
any ideas why it is back firing?thanks

Running too rich if you have a backfire after you kill the ignition.

backfire is after shutting down the throttle not killing the ignition cheers

Backfiring after deccel while riding? Sounds like you need to bring out the idle mixture screws a bit and maybe up the pilot jet.
Does it have any hesitation on throttle roll on?

no hesitation on throttle,but have just checked plugs,1,3 and 4 are a black sooty color and 2 is a sandy color,will turn out the screws tomorrow,thanks

Don't come out on the screws if you are black and sooty. That is a rich condition. By the way what year model is this?

don't know the model of bike,as i only bought the engine(gs850) and loom and built a trike with it but the year of registration was december 1985,if thats any help
if running too rich how do i sort this problem out,cheers
