I'm not too motorcycle savvy, but I have a '77 GS750 and when riding down the freeway, half the power cut out all of a sudden. Just to maintain 60mph i had to use full throttle. I pulled off the highway and the bike died as i slowed down. The bike would not restart so i had to use a truck to get it home. because i have a car as well, i stopped riding. A year or so later I got it running but still the bike did not have full power. When inspecting the ignition wires (as recommended by a friend) I saw they were corroded and decided to replace them. When trying to remove them from the coils, the rubber insulation around the wires had melted to the coiles and broke off the wire staying inside the coils. This make it impossible to insert new wires. Perhaps this is where my lack of knowledge hurt me. I have heard ignition coils are rarely the problem...I feel stuck. What steps would you all take to get the bike running again? Any comments are greatly appreciated!
