    GRRR Bike troubles still

Well if any of you have been reading my post you may already know my story. here is a recap. I ordered a Real gasket valve cover gasket and I had issues with my tach drive gear. Well I replaced the cam from a spare motor and used a oem valve cover gasket. Once I fired the bike up it ran fine for about two minutes and then started to run like crap. I put in new plugs, filled the carbs with carb cleaner and let it sit overnite, treated the gas in tank with sea foam. Well yesterday I drained my float bowls and installed my tank in hopes my bike would run properly. Well lo and behold it runs like garbage and now will not even start. Well I pulled the plugs and cylinder 2 and 3 were fould and one and two were perfectly clean. I also did a compression check and all four cylinders had 155 psi. I then pulled my plug caps to check for spark and each cylinder would produce a spark over about 1 cm. Well then I decided it must be a fuel problem so I pulled my carbs and pulled the float bowl off cyl 2 and nothing was staring me in the face as to a problem like a missing jet or pilot plug. I do plan on going through the carbs to clean and inspect everything and I will also replace the orings. but I really don't think my carbs are the problem. Any input would be very helpful.

Have you ever replaced the carb o-rings before? If not, it's time well spent since they dry out and get hard - including the ones on the carb body interconect tubes.

    Good luck.

Did you try balancing the carbs and checking the air mixture screws? Are the clean plugs at least wet?

Carb oring have not been replaced before. however the bike ran like a champ prior to all of this nonsense.
I did balance the carbs and made sure the mixture screws were all set properly. Plugs are wet and fouled. I have fuel and I have spark.

Mayhaps you have TOO MUCH fuel. I am with you on cleaning them again however, simply because it only takes something little to clog up those idle circuit passages. Give it a shot, then when you re-install, mess with the screws a bit (set them at stock first) if you still have trouble. I just kinda went thru this on my cafe project.

Trouble was not enough fuel. I finally checked the petcock and sure enough it was partially clogged. Well I cleaned it out and had a good flow of fuel and then I installed it and the bike seems to run great. I have yt to ride it but will tomorrw. I will also be ordering a new petcock to have peace of mind. I know I can buy a rebuild kit but again I want a true piece of mind.
