    Running Lean

My 79 GS1000 is running a bit lean. Anyone remember if you turn in or out to richen the mix?

OK, so he has the VM carbs. That means he has TWO screws to play with. Which one are you talking about?

The FUEL screw is on the bottom. Turning it OUT will richen the mixture.

The AIR screw is on the side. Turning it OUT will add air, leaning the mixture.

Many people will suggest setting the fuel screw to one turn out from lightly-seated, and the air screw to about 1 3/4.
