    Replace Petcock - Options

So the bike I just bought (Link to that thread)has a very very rusty tank. I am going to try electrolysis on it here in the next few days. The petcock doesn't turn and with all of the bad things I have heard about them I think I will replace it. This is how it looked when I pulled it out.

I haven't read yet what I should replace it with. A stock Suzuki replacement that matches this or a different model?

I totally agree with Dave. It won't cost you much, it's really important, it will last you for a long time and it's easy to get one.:-D

Oh, in answer to your second question, I think I'd probably get an OEM replacement but, as long as you're sure you've got a good fitting match, it really doesn't matter. Just don't settle for something different or you'll have a new set of problems!

i got an aftermarket from z1enterprises. works great. only thing is that unlike yours where the fuel outlet comes out the side, the outlet comes out the back, had a couple issues with fuel line binding but it's all sorted out now.

Can you rotate the back plate to change the outlet position?

not that i can tell. it seems that with mine ( pic here - http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=1716 ) rotating the back plate will just change the vacuum line position.

I'm running a Pingel it works well but has no vacuum shutoff. you have to buy the petcock and adapter plate separate. If I were to do it again I think I would go back with a stock replacement though.
