That is basically a monthly occurance now that I live in a decent climate and can ride anytime I want.So enough. I bought a new OEM speedo cable and tach cable(because mine was separated but still worked) from Bike Bandit for a small amount of money. The shipping was like $8 so had to wait until I needed several things to justify the fedex from CA to FL.
The interesting thing is that the new cables are both packed fully with a very sticky grease similar to the old army cosmolene or plumber's grease of yore. The speedo is now rock steady at any speed and falls immediately when I let off the throttle too.
Money well spent but if I ever find out what that stuff is they put in at the factory I'll buy a tube and fill my old cables with it for another experiment.
Anyone actually know what that sticky stuff is? It's about 1/2 as thick as beeswax and twice as thick as vasoline. But it is awesome. Probably costs more than the cables in a gallon bucket full only
