Quick Question - Stator cover removal without draining oil?
I'd like to remove my cover to put it on the buffing wheel. If I do this, am I going to dump oil all over the place? Clymer's says to drain the oil first, I wanted to know if there was a little trick like with the right hand side cover on the side stand.
Thanks!Last edited by Guest; 05-22-2008, 01:21 PM.Tags: None -

I keep on seeing posts on ways to get the stator cover off without draining the oil. I don't see the big deal in draining the oil. What will it take, 5 minutes to drain and a few minutes to fill it back up, TedComment

Same here. I wasn't due for a change so I didn't change the filter, but I drained the oil. Not gonna risk the bike falling over propped against something.Comment

I'm trying to avoid draining oil with 80 miles, especially when it necesitates dropping my pipes and putting up with the ensuing mess.Comment

Damn it. I have to confirm for the one I'm looking at. I don't mind losing the center stand, but I'm not gonna drop the pipes every 1500 or 2000 miles to change the oil.Comment
