I would PREFER a 4 - 2 turn out but that looks even less likely

As far as I can tell. the V&H should work, but I can't swear to that. :?

The muffler hangers changed from under the pipe to above the pipe in ’81 or ‘82. There are other changes as well but that’s the obvious one. Since your bike is an ’83, those early pipes won’t be a direct bolt on. Not sure if you could use them or not.

I think I have an early model set of pipes on my bike now. Looks like the PO swapped the mufflers from one side to the other so the tabs are up instead of down.

Do you have photos of your current exhaust system? I’m curious about this right to left swap – doesn’t seem possible without cutting off the mufflers.

Or taking a chunk out of one of the muffler brackets Which was done on one of mine as the muffler was a little to high.
