Macmondo - greetings to another Brit. The 1100 motor will drop in your frame easily enough but your slide carbs won't fit. You'll need to get hold of CV carbs or possibly these:

(Never seen them before so i know nothing about them - may be someone else does)

Are you sure they're slide carbs by the way - VM series? If your 1000 is a 'true' 1980 (rather than a 79 which didn't sell till 80) you'd have CV carbs. CV carbs do have slides by the way, but they have a butterfly valve on the airbox side and a flat top which is the simplest way to id them.

Oh, by the way I checked out your other post - don't call it a gas tank it's for petrol\\/. Gas is about 2 peanuts a gallon in the US and here petrol is about a million quid a squirt - that's the difference!
    79 GS1000S
    79 GS1000S (another one)
    80 GSX750
    80 GS550
    80 CB650 cafe racer
75 PC50 - the one with OHV and pedals...
75 TS100 - being ridden (suicidally) by my father

It won't be that much longer until gas is just as expensive here as it is in the UK. We're up to over 4 dollars a gallon now. Just one more reason to get my bike back on the road....sheeesh...

They should bolt right up if it is an 80.
