    plastic timing chain guides

    i am doing the top end on my 77 750. when i took it apart the front chain guide came out with the block. in putting it back together and it looks like the guide just slides in to the front of the case. is this correct? if it is i assume that the guide pushes against the chain towards the back of the engine.

      If I remember correctly, (its been awhile) the cam chain guides slide as you assume and threre is an indention/slot on each side that they are set into that keeps them in position. The front plastic is fairly short. The long one is the rear one.

          thanks for the reply only the front one came out when i pulled it apart. this is the fist one that i have done and the service manual did'nt show how they went.

              It just slides in and the top should sit flush with the top of the head and the two notches in the grooves.
