    Throttle Cable Length Question

I am ordering new throttle cables for my 79 GS750L. I switched bars to an "E" style handle bar; of course making my throttle cables a bit long (that's not why I am getting new ones--the place junctures are all cracked on old ones). Z1 offers two lengths for the 750...43 inches and 47 inches. The 47 inch one is clearly designated for the "L" model but the 43 inch one is generic for the 750. With my new bars, is teh 43 inch one long enough?

    Thanks for your help.

Dennis Kirk has the 79 750 "L" model throttle cable listed at about 47" overall and the "E" listed at 42 inches overall. I think I am just going to go with the shorter one at DK (since I live close by). Also, there is no listing for the push cable so I assume you just get the same length for both?

'79 bike has VM carbs right? Maybe the cables listed by DK are for CV carbs? Don't think the cables interchange so be careful before ordering.

DK has it listed according to actual bike model. So I assume that the 79 GS750L and 79 GS750E listings would be for the VM carbs since that would be accurate for those models. However, I am actually going to go there with my cables in hand just to be sure. Like you I am cautious and I want the cables to be right.

        Thanks!

I just answered my own question. I have my cables off and they are both 46 inches long (that is the full cable length). I think with the shorter bars, 42 inches would be about perfect. I will let you know for future reference.
