Fattening her up....GS1100G carb bumps...
It occurs to me, after consulting with the hive, that I would like to fatten the 1100 up a lil bit, to get rid of that slight hesitation when givin her the whip. I have been told to shim the needle, and maybe bump the main...so in bumping the main, whats the suggestion? half size bump or a whole bump? Anyone? TIA!

Try the needles first. You don't even have to take the carbs off to do it. Worked wonders on my bikes.Ed

That's it. Start with a washer stack equal to 1/2 the thickness of the stock plastic washer - typically two small washers. You can remove more washers as needed.

Something I learned today
The spacer is 2.5mm. Radio crap washers are .5mm. So 5 washers make the spacer. Start with 3 which is like raising the needle one notch.
There is a washer under the clip and one over the clip (I believe). Keep those in place. Just use the washers to replace the spacer and keep everything else the same.Comment

It's the small variety pack.
You do inventory on the first? I was up at 5am jetting my bike to make it to work by 8. Even got Fourth of July ordered (1000 people) and home by 12 with $20'000 in product.
Got home to do what??? Rejet.Last edited by Guest; 07-01-2008, 12:44 AM.Comment

Yesah, Inventory before open on the first. We could do it on the night of the 31st after close, but when that falls on a Friday or Saturday, we dont get done closing untill 3am at times. Especially durring football season. We have ALOT of HS's round us, and they ALL come into our store after games.
how many of those variety packs will i need? Just one to do all four of the carbs?Comment

One is more than enough. I've used many for jetting projects and had plenty for my BS needle adjustment. Took them out as soon as I got home.Yesah, Inventory before open on the first. Harbor Freight has some cheapo long needle nosed pliers. Cut a small notch on the ends with a dremmel. I have taken out hundreds of circlips from carbs with these and they cost like $3. I bought two.Comment
