I have an 81 gs850gx. I need to bore the cylinder some and find bigger pistons. I found a set for an 1100, but I don't know the diameter of that model. I know that the 1000G is 1 mm over the 850, but have no info on the 1100. Also, if I can fit them, is there anything else i need to change like connecting rods or different cam chain?

Hopefully the pistons are from a shaft drive bike for the two valve. Most 1100s are four valves per cylinder. -
You would be better off looking for a second hand barrel for the 850 than looking for bigger pistons. All the 16 valve motor pistons won't work in your bike with 8 valves so discount that as an idea.

Don't know about if the pistons would "fit", but increasing the displacement by appx. 25% just by a larger dia. piston doesn't seem reasonable. Wouldn't be enough meat left in the barrels. You can bore the stock sleeves 3 mm bigger than stock bore. I hope this helps. Just KNOW that when you go to pistons from a different size engine you need to check compression height (from the center of the pin to the top of the piston at the squish band) because if it is higher or lower it will determine if you can use it or not.
