    Timing

I was wondering if anyone has any idea what the timing is for a 1983 gs750?.

    I don`t have a manual right now.

    Thanks.....

    Cam chain timing??

#1 arrow on exhaust cam sprocket pointed at the head valve cover gasket surface.
#2 should be pointed about straight up
Count 20 links between #2 on exhaust to #3 on the intake cam sprocket. This includes the links over the arrows.

      Ignition timing?

Look under the cover on the right end of the crank. Connect a timing light to #4 spark plug, start the engine, shine the light at the marks. There are three marks, T, F, and |. The T is Top Dead Center, the F is the Firing mark at low speed, the | is the firing mark when the advance is working, usually about 3,000 rpm or so.

No idea what numbers are attached to those firing marks, but it does not matter. It should fire when the marks line up.

At least you mentioned what kind of bike it is.

I was just running down the list of other things that might need to be timed.
