I recently acquired an 82 gs650g earlier this summer, and have been getting it running well this past month. Well on my first time firing it up, I noticed oil leaking out of the bottom of the stator side engine cover. I promptly ordered a new gasket and installed it. It did not fix the leak.... so I removed the cover filed the cover down a bit, to make sure it was smooth and level, and reinstalled the gasket. nothing. Took it back off and used some rtv silicone to try and seal it... nothing..

I figured there was a crack in the bottom of the cover, so i cleaned it up, and used baby powder to find the leak... it leaked all around the mating surfaces of the area in red. I'm stumped. Could i just be overlooking something, missing a part that would cause a leak like that.... I assume there is pressure there, which is why it "blows" through when running, but doesn't leak when parked.
any ideas?
Thanks for your help,
Chris
