head stuck to cylinder on GS1100ET
I am in the process of changing the head and base gaskets on my stock 1980 GS1100E. All is going smooth, so far. I removed the 12 head nuts/ bolts as well as the bolt in the front between cylnders 2 and 3. I have hit the base of the head with a rubber mallet but she won't break free. The whole cylinder and head assembly is rocking slightly on the base gasket so I know that the base gasket is free, but the head is stuck to the cylinder. I really do not want to screw this up so I am looking for advice.Tags: None -

How about the two end 10mm bolts?
If yes it is probably stuck to the dowels. They are in the center on each end of the cylinder. Give it a good tap here with a piece of wood and a rubber mallet. Can you get it up enough to spray some PB Blaster in there? -

Like the last post says I think you may have missed these two bolts. Located just outside #1&4 spark plugs. 15 bolts total. good luck.Comment
