tach gear assy.
i have a 1981 gs1000g. I have a new tach gear, but i can't figure out how the assy comes apart. i looked at the drawing at bikebandit.com, but i couldn't tell how it comes apart. any one know how it comes apart? machined fit? threads? help!Tags: None -

The tach worm gear assy that is mounted in the head under the valve cover. The tach cable screw mounts into it.Comment

On the fitting that the cable end screws into(on valve cover) there's a tab, with a screw thru it that goes into the valve cover, after you pull the screw and remove the tab, the fitting with gear will pull out, note thrust washer below gear!!!Comment

Tach Gear
Also while you have it apart, spend the eight bucks for the two seals. One is a flat faced o-ring that goes around the housing and the other is a press in seal for the tach gear shaft. It'll keep the garage floor neat!1982 GS1100GLZ Sold but still loved
