It can be done. Not to long ago there was an article in a magazine about a moto guzzi le mans, wich they converted from shaft to chain drive.
Anything is possible, given the time and money.

In what way is a chain drive Guzzi an "improvement". Yea, yea, I know, chain is lighter, less unsprung weight, etc, etc. Honestly though, if you want a chain drive bike just buy one, Guzzi is a Guzzi...let it be itself, don't try to change it into something it's not.

Changing a Guzzi to chain drive makes as much sense as much of BMW's product design where they answer the questions nobody has need to ask.

To make a replica of the prototype GSXR that Suzuki raced in endurance racing before selling them. It is a historically important bike because it was what Suzuki used to prove the design before firing the first shot of the lightweight race replica revolution.

Don't take it so serious, i was just kidding. I have driven both chain and shaft driven bikes, and liked them both.
