Degreeing in cams on a GS1100E

Hi, I am degreeing in my cams on a GSX1100E 1980 (that's what it was called in the U/K, GS1100E in the US) I?m looking to set them to get the most power out of them in the mid ? top end rev band, I've been through the forums and found several links to this subject but with conflicting numbers, some say to take the readings at 40 thou valve lift and others say at 50 thou lift one even said at 20 thou lift.
Am I right in thinking that setting the cams at 110 degrees would be best, reading through all the links, but at what valve lift.
Any assistance in this will be greatly received.

As the cam profile is symmetrical (same ramp angle opening and closing) it doesn't matter which of those values you choose. pick one and stick with it. 110 sounds correct and is what Greg Cope suggests.

I have mine setup at 110 both.
At 6000 lookout!
If you can't get a decent idle and you want a little more bottom end go down to 106-108 on the intake. Keep exhaust at 110.

I set up all of my motors at .050 lift. Been doing it that way for over 30 years. Ray.
