just removed the intake boots they seem to be soft and pliable but their is a coating of rubber on the flange where the allen screw is at not the mounting screws the one in the boot, some of this rubber is flaking off is this ok or should i replace the boots would rather not replace but if I need to I will

A pic would be helpful but minor localized flaking at the mounting bolt slots or synch adapter bolt I would think is OK. -
Leaks
The important thing is whether or not they leak. If you can look at them and you're satisfied that what you're seeing is not causing a leak, I'd suggest you keep them on there. Keep your eye on them to see if they deteriorate to the point where they're not doing their job. If so, you can always replace them. Too bad they're kind of "spendy" for your bike.Comment
