Please explain "Captive Discharge" vs. "Induc

I just got off the phone with someone at Accel. They told me there are two types of ignition coils: Captive Disharge and Inductive charge.

Question #1: Did I hear him correctly?

Question #2: What is the difference between them?

    Thanks!

    Without explaining, you need inductive.

you heard him wrong, it is capacitive, not captive.
capacitive discharge ignitions (CDI) are typicaly found on smaller displacement, and off road bikes.
most street bikes from 400cc up use battery powered ignitions.
