Is it a GS or GSX?

    Greetings-

I'm hoping someone can clear something up for me. The 1983 GS 750-
when I ask the dealer about parts, they refer to it as a GS750E. The
Suzuki cycles website ( http://www.suzukicycles.org/All-Suzuki/all_suzuki_models.html ) refers to it as a GSX. So what is it really? When did the bikes shift from GS to GSX & GSXR?

    Thanks for your help.

GS has 8 valves, GSX has 16 valves and GSXR has oil cooled motor.

bikes with 16v engines were marketed in the USA as the GS----E models (from 1980) while in europe and other countries the same bikes were called GSX----

to make things more confusing for you fellas in the states... some 8v engines were still called E in 1980 and 1981 (this denoted a higher spec 8V model compared to the basic model)
