Adhesive removal
I have an old tank pad Pro/Grip that has been on the bike for a very, very long time. I want to just peal it off but I know there will be some left over adhesive on the tank. Any input to remove without messing up the paint? I bet this pad has been on for 20 years

WD-40 is safe and typically works well for that kind of work assuming the paint is origional.Ed
To measure is to know.

WD40 and Naptha both work great but not on all types of adhesive. B12 Chemtool will eat everything but it may damage your paint (test on a small, hidden area first). GooGone works ok but it's expensive and no very versatile.

I had some TAZ decals on my bike when I got it and I used WD-40 and a plastic scraper to remove the left over adhesive. The plastic scraper won't hurt the pain since the paint is harder than the plastic. Spray the WD-40 on the adhesive, work it around with the plastic scraper, then start scraping it off. Takes time, but it works and there is no evidence of the old decals.
