Once when adjusting the valves i cleaned the surface with a rasor blade and trimmed those bloody things. It leaked like a sieve after that

I think that is what I may have done.

I picked up 4 today. I didn't get a chance to work on it tonight. I think I'll replace them all, if one has started when will the rest? 8O

I thought that they were just a buildup of gasket material. Sometimes it pays to open the shop manual from time to time
