    carbs

I have a 81 gs450L, and i just rebuilt the carbs. The bike runs great when giving it gas and riding, but it smells like it is burning rich. where are the air screws located.Ive looked at the carb rbuild thread but nothing on those carbs look like mine. would love to get this thing going good tomorrow so i can enjoy the last couple of warm days on the road.

    thanks in advance

if you're talking cv carbs, then there's no air screws

there are however pilot mixture screws (relevant at idle and very low throttle)
they are located on the top front side but are hidden by caps

part of cleaning the carbs is to have those caps off so the screws can be taken out and passages cleaned

do the caps need to be drilled ot or do they just pop off?

You drill a small hole in them so you can get a screw in the plugs and yank them out. Don't let the bit plunge into the screw hole or you may end up damaging the threads.

Many have found it easy to screw a drywall screw into the small hole, the plug then pops right out.

You remember the way down to my house? Come on down, we can tweak the screws.
