    Oops I forgot something

I just realized that I forgot to install the dowel locator pins (Item #7 on the parts fiche for the cylinder) on my 1980 gs550. Given the trouble I had getting the cylinders back on I really don't want to take them off again. Are those pins really necessary? (I'm afraid I already know the answer)

Yup, those are pretty important. They locate the bores directly above the rods. You may get side loads on the pistons otherwise.

That's what I figured (as I kick myself repeatedly)

I will, I'm just kicking myself about it, it was so long ago that I took it apart, I completely forgot about them. Should have looked at the schematic before I put it back on. Won't make that mistake again.
