old school race only carbs from years gone by.
the lectron brand of carb that paul gast modifies and sells took there place. -
Mikuni makes all kinds of different individual carbs that the dirt/drag bike guys use. Slap on a 1:4 cable arrangement and away you go. Syncing might be a little tricky but can’t be that hard.Ed
To measure is to know.

Interesting, I'll keep an eye on them, sure somebody will wind up running up the price near the end of the auction.
Edit:
They actually come with a throttle cable. A single cable divides into 4 individual cables one of which goes to each carb. Too much for my bike probably, but if they go for under $150.00 I might snag them just for future use.Last edited by Guest; 01-15-2009, 01:43 PM.Comment

I believe they were called cone carbs. They had that cone design so the slides would lift completely out of the bore for maximum flow. Terry Vance had them on some of his early drag bikes.

40mm... smoothbore... where the slide lifts totally out of the carb... bet the mileage is great with those puppies! I went ahead and bid as high as I'm willing to go (which isn't that high) and see if they fall in my lap. They'd be WAY too much for my lightly modified (soon to be) 1100, but might be able to do something with them.Comment

Give them a miss. You will be constantly trying to keep them all synched. The individual cable lengths are a Pita to keep idential. That is the only way that they stay in sych. Later model slide carbs were fitted with a common actuation rod to remedy that problem.
With that system, you have five throttle cables to keep lubed as well.:) The road to hell is paved with good intentions......................................

My max bid is $125. I seriously doubt I'll win them. If I did I don't plan to use them on my bike (at least not for daily use) if I get them at that price just be a toy and a hunk of history I might mount up sometime in the future just to play with them. Near my max bid now with over a day left, some racer will swoop in and grab them at the last minute.Comment
