Yes, the '81GS750E and '81GS1100E body work are ALL interchangeable. My brother runs the 'red' '81 GS750E bodywork on his '81GS1100E cause he likes the color and enjoys the '750' badges on the side covers...but he is kinda 'sick' (a long story)..LOL,LOL.

In Asia, Europe, and Australia, your question would have been about GSX1100 and GSX750 tanks. Those are interchangeable in that they will fit on the other bike, but they are not identical in that the 1100 tank is larger and has a higher profile.GS450E GS650E GS700ES GS1000E GS1000G GS1100G GS1100E
