    O-Rings for head bolts ,1100E

    I have an '83 GS1100E...what a machine!
    Well, y'all have helped me realize that the leak at my front-most head bolt is coming from a leaky o-ring for an inner head bolt (probably).
    My problem is that I have searched the subject and found lots of diagnosis for the issue... but I need to know the best way to attack this problem. Can I get to the bolts easily if I just pull off the tank? Do I need to order the o-rings from Suzuki or is there a better alternative?
    You guys are deffinately in the know about this. Please help, and thanks for all the help thusfar.

    Sorry to say its more involved that pulling the tank. As far as i remember the ex cams have to come out and then you can undo one nut at a time to replace the o-ring.. A good o-ring place should have the right one or you could order two in before. While your at it a valve adjustment and a tappet cover gasket wouldnt go amiss.

      You can get at them

      by simply pulling the valve cover. best to have the tank off as well.
      No need to pull cams. Just a long socket extension.

      According to Ray no gupe. Just clean the inside of the cavity with a dremel tool and mini wire wheel(or equivalent).

        Go to mrcycles.com and order a pair. Also get a valve cover gasket.
        Retorque the head while you have the valve cover off.
        Have you exluded the leak coming from the valve cover gasket, tach gear or cam chain tensioner?
        These are easy to get to. Put a rag in the cam chain tunnel so you don't drop sockets, extensions or bolts into the motor.

          Hey Chef

          Does mrcycles.com know the cam specs for an GS1100ED;

          I been doing a search to see if for whether the valve stem caps come off CW or CCW

          I guess it depends on if I stand on my head .
