    front Fork Swap 80' 1100ET with ????

I find myself probably needing to replace at least one tube, and maybe both on the front fork. Then rebuild all new seals.
Is there by chance an easy swap I could do that would get me a better front end? I saw something about the 82' 750E

    Thanks

I have a set of forks off an 81 GS750E in good shape if you need some.

      Forks

      80-81 GS750E are 35mm ; 80-83 are 37 mm.

Chef that is an 80 GS750 as well

          Bump!
Is there a reasonable cost front end swap for a 80 gs1100e with a newer gs? What newer GS's front ends can go on a 80 gs1100e?

How reasonable you looking for? And are you looking for retaining stock-ish form? For $150 shipped you could buy a full FZR front end. For $300 shipped you could buy a full YZF600R front end (much better). For about then same $300 you could run a full Katana front end. For about $500 you could do an early '90's GSXR front end and rear wheel.

If you're just looking for stock stuff then buy the same one you got.

300 would be good. Some of what I am reading is getting anti-dive, a bit better cornering. I am not to concerned about looks.
Are there companies that sell the front ends rebuilt?

              Thanks,
              ~John

The GS anti-dive systems were poor, with the possiable exception of the 1150 version, maybe. The later forks all took 16" wheels too, not recommended for your 1100. Honestly, I'd just look for some new-used forks for your bike. BTW, what's wrong with the forks you have?

                    Sorry to hear this.

I have a set of 1000GL forks you can have for shipping cost. The chrome has some pitting so they will need a good polishing with 1000 grit. Not exactly the same as your old forks but fairly close I think.

Drop me a PM if interested.

Morph, I have a complete 1150 front end less the wheel (Nessism has that & has no use for it I believe!) I will sell for 225 shipped to you. Forks, handlebars, triples, axle, wheel spacers, calipers & brake lines, & I'll even throw in the master cylinder. It does need 1 fork seal changed but if it were mine I would change them both anyway. Let me know if you are interested. Ray.
