How he got it started with out the air box and kept it runnin is beyond me. sounds like he needs a new clutch or clutch springs.
isn't this funny?

I like the way he keeps pumping the throttle to add gas as if it had an acellerator pump.
Also a very good example of poor starting technique. When using the 'choke' knob or lever to start the bike, do NOT move the throttle.
You get a better sense of his mechanical aptitude in part 2.
Personally, I would not let him touch any of my machines, let alone start one.

Yeah, it ran great until it blew up!
I like all the junk he has - he must have a hundred broken AC units piled up there. And about a dozen broken cars that you can see.
Sorry, 850, if he was closer I'd come out and rescue you!!!1978 GS 1000 (since new)

How the *!%# does torching your spark plugs qualify as cleaning them?!?!?! And what good is it going to do if they are no good? After all, the genious mechanic did say they were "probably shorted". Just go down to the parts store and buy a new set for like $6 (not sure what the conversion rate is, but it can't be much different in Canuk money).

Taking a torch to fouled spark plugs and O2 sensors works great so long as you're running a decent flame and don't melt the electrodes. You'll never have as good a part as you did when it was new, but it will take soot off and allow it to actually work again. How the *!%# does torching your spark plugs qualify as cleaning them?!?!?! I had to do it often when my TL was fouling plugs left and right. $12 a plug gets expensive really fast.
I concur on the general consensus about this gentleman, though...like the "K" car in the back. That's not a Shelby...though it may have a Shelby drivetrain. Either way, I'd bet a good dollar it doesn't make any horsepower at all.Comment

The real tragedy is that he calls it a F_ _ king piece of S_ _ T, what did he expect without new o-rings, gaskets, plugs, and one serious valve adjustment?????
That bike wasn't running- it was screaming to be put out of it's misery.
Good video on how NOT to get your GS running after prolonged storage, should be a sticky for newbies!Comment

my favorite quote was "after I chiseled the needles free" owch, poor bike, i had had bikes sit longer then that and after a real carb clean air box and filter on, new plugs and oil it fires right up. poor bike indeed.78 GS1000 Yosh replica racer project, 82 Kat 1000, 10 990 ADV-R, Some dirt bikesComment
