    spedo question

my current spedo is an 85 on my 82 gs1100e

i was looking threw ebay and came across a spedo listed as "gs1100e spedo"

it was round so i knew it wasnt the old style

so i threw some money at it
on closer inspection the picture was not what the gs is
i figureed someone who outbid me and i only threw 5 bucks at it
so i figured no big deal

well i won it for 4.32
he sent me the one pictured which i informed him is not for a gs it says kat 650 on it and is date stamped 96

he said i was right and he would send me out another one

so i informed him some go to 85 some go more
he said back im not sure which one i sent you

got it the other day and its the 140 spedo so im happy about that

anyways under the glass and above the face plate there are dead misquitoes

how do i get them out?

how does the glass come off?
is it like my kaw where i had to pry off the metal ring?

Put the gauge face down on your workbench (protect with clean rag) and carefully pry the lip of the bezel up. Pry a little at a time and work slowly, around and around until the lip is bent up enough to get the bezel off.

To bend the bezel back down, take a small hammer and slowly work the lip down, going around and around like before. Last step is to take a round drift punch and hammer, tap the lip down the rest of the way.

I've done this on several gauges and when you are done, you can't see that anything was done after the gauge is installed on the bike.

well looks like the Es are diff from the Gs

as all i had to do was take out a few screws and the back came right off and i was able to lift out teh spedo assembly and clean the glass from the inside
