    Rear Master Cylinder Leak

So my rear master cylinder is leaking and doesn't hold enough pressure to slow the bike down, unless I pump it... Obviously that won't do...

I've been looking into used ones, but was also wondering if there is a specific kit to repair the one I have. When these things go, are there usual replacement parts necessary to make them work again?

If I went the used route, I imagine I may have issues as components will have dried out... hence more problems?

Any thoughts, and advice very much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ted

I would suggest doing a tear down on it to see what the actual problem is. Is your line in good shape?

My gs 700 had the rear master cylinder seized up when I got it. I did a tear down on it and the inside was coroded. I cleaned it out an all is ok.

Yours could be coroded as well but making it loose the seal.

Hopefully this helps a little. I'm new to bikes but a little trial and error coundn't hurt.

They still make rebuild kits for your bike. Try mrcycles.com or Ebay.

I agree with wilson, pull it apart and have a look inside. Important thing is to see what the bore looks like - get a flashlight and look inside for pitts in the metal. As long as the metal is not pitted, you can get a piston kit and it will be good to go. I suggest using Suzuki branded parts. I received a bad K&L master cylinder kit from Z1 and wound up stuck with it because they wouldn't take it back. Never again. flatoutmotorcycles.com has the cheapest Suzuki parts.

        Good luck.
