How to know if a valve adjustment is in order?

    Thanks for the reply. I am relieved that it seems to be running strong, and was thrilled to ride it event though I froze my butt off.

    The air filter is new, and I've done the best I could at the moment to seal the edges, but I'm sure it is leaking some and that's probably the culprit as you say. The carb boots were inspected and heated up for pliability and didn't seem to be dried out or cracked when the carbs were taken apart to be cleaned.

    I'm hoping that the oil leakage was an issue of the bolt being loose - we'll find out soon though.
