How long, O Lord, How long!!

I know my GS1100gk has a air cooled engine, so how long is it safe to have it runing but setting still while I working on it?

I would guess that depends largely on the ambient temp you're working in...

Best bet, use a fan aimed at the engine when working on it while running...

WOW! Who knew that HikerMikeM was the lord?

Now that he's revealed himself I'm going to be on my best behavior!

BTW, I agree with the lord's advice (I'd be crazy not to ... right?) that you use a fan to flow air past the engine. I was going to suggest that myself but hey ... you asked for the almighty's opinion and who am I to step on his toes?

I put a box fan between the front fender and the headers blowing air directly on the headers.
And yes my fan has header marks melted into it.

Now ... is that an actual custom Kerker box fan or just a custom by Kerker box fan?
