79 GS 850 carb initial settings and sync

    Going through a 79 GS850 Here
Cleaned carbs well, 2 carbs running, 2 are rich/flooding.
Have no idea what fuel and air screws should be set to initially before sync
    also need syncronization information
I have proper tools but no manuals or info.
Can't seem to find any info on this model with mikuni carbs.

    Thanks for the help

Just how did you clean the carbs "well"?

Hopefully you did quite a bit more than just dropping the float bowls and spraying with some cleaner. The guide that Nessism referenced is the best thing going, If you don't follow that procedure, you will only be taking the carbs apart again when you come back and do it right.

I just received the morgan carbtuner and colour tuner. Now i need to patch up the exhaust. Patch one spot but there is another one. Sounds easy, NOT! I don't dare take the right side off or try to take it off, something about pandora's box or can of warms.

Driftcreek, i've been told that the exhaust should not be leaking if you want a good carb sync with your manometer.

Not sure how i'm going to address this problem.

            carbs in good shape

bike running well. used the guide given to me. I did not disassemble the chokes, however. The bike has 14K original and the carbs were drained before storage. They came up real clean, jets were clear. once I bench synced, it ran beautifully. It is time to see why I have no rear brakes. The exhausts are sealed and quiet. Thanks
