    GS750E Ignition (1983)

Anyone know if this would work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Suzuk...1%7C240%3A1318

The part number he quotes is different from Flatout but it looks the same... did they change anything for that model? Seems to work with everything but!

Looking for options as the stock one is listed at $100.

Alternatively anyone know how to get a broken ignition key out of the ignition barrel. It's way down inside, nothing to grab.
Do the barrel's come apart easily? (Even if we replace the ignition I need to get the key out to get a copy made up for the seat lock).

    Cheers,

    Dan

It does look to be the same as the 700/750 models.

I've had my ignition apart before but can't remember if I had the tumbler out. The top piece pulls right off by prying a couple of tabs back. The guts at the bottom come out by removing just one screw to get the electrics out. You might be able to punch the tumbler out by getting the guts out of the way.

I would think that a GS750ED ignition would mechanically and electrically swap with that one as my 80 and 81 GS750E and 83 GS1100ED all share the same ignition.

Problem is that the internals of the aftermarket lock will not allow you to match to the seat lock(told by a locksmith here in SB).

Get a lock smith to remove the broken key and give him another OEM lock to swap parts into if that one is broke.

I can get the name of the guy up here in SB that does this stuff if you can find someone down there.

        Hey Dan,

I presume you are looking to help Rich fix his bike...

I think a locksmith could dig that broken key out and then make a new one. The lock set for that bike is a little jacked up - there are three different keys for the different locks. A locksmith in the valley quoted me $35 to make all the cylinders match. It might be a good time to take all the locks in and get things squared away proper like.

        One other option... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-...lenotsupported

I think you're right... It's definitely still useable if we can get the key out. Must be someone here such as Redondo Lock & Key that can do that stuff.

Guess the first thing is to get it off the bike.

Seems the keys out with ignition still fitted to the bike... $35 so that's a start. At least it's properly rideable again now & we have a key to get in under the seat.
