      There was other problems with a spare carb so I did a little dremeling on the bowl for show and tell

        Broken carb post

        I've got the same problem. I just did a carb cleaning and found the exact same surprise when I pulled one of the bowls apart.....a broken post. The post still seemed to hold the bar and float alright. That said, I'd give it a try as I have to pull the carbs again soon as I put the float needles in upside down. Always check the manual if you come back after a week. That said, the bike still runs better than before, but I guess that I should flip the needles as designed.
