    Ignition Wires

I'm building my own set of ignition wires to fit with my Dyna coils. I am using 7MM wire but I'm thinking 8MM wire might be stock for a 78 GS1000EC. Any thoughts? It took me all day to get the components but in the end, I can make the wires economically.

The stock wires are 7mm, or less maybe. Are you using solid core or suppression core wires, and what kind of spark plug caps? Standard rule of thumb is resistor caps with solid wires or the other way around.

I`m using copper core wire with the stock caps(fifty cents a foot). I found the brass ends for the coil end at Napa for 30 cents each and the boots for 45 cents (canadian).

One other thing: I removed the metal casing on the plug caps due to the possibility of shorting when moisture is present.

Run copper core wires without resistor caps and **** off all the cages!

Run whatever diameter fits into your dyna coils.

Both 7mm and 8mm fit into the Dyna coils, although 8mm is a more snug fit. I suppose that using wire larger than stock could carry more current. Are the stock caps resistor caps.(??) I was going to get some NGK caps but this town is not the best place to get things that are useful.

Yes, stock is a resistor cap. NGK is also.
