Do bars make a big difference?

I have a '79 GS 1000n and I want to put straight bars on it. I was looking at bikebandit and I think I can put the bars from the 1000s on mine. I clamp assy has the same part # for both bikes, so I think it'll work. Anyone else tried this or think it'll be a good idea?

All Jap bikes should be 7/8" bars I do believe. The one main difference in bikes is Harley bars which are 1".

So, to answer your question, yes they should fit.

This is the most helpful run of posts about bars that I have come across on here. That is the perfect description of L style bars whoever said that "any bike with them is out of control any time it is moving"..pretty funny. Thanks.
