    Stock 1150 Wheels, what tires?

What's the tyre options for stock 1150 wheels?

Presuming they are not wide enough for radials?

i am running 120 80 16 on the front and 130 90 17 on the rear . as far as a wider tire on the rear dont do it the rims are desighned for a spesific size and if you go wider the roundness profile of the tire get screwed up and so dose the handling . i know that front tires are getting hard to find and one day may have to change the front end to somthing more currant.

Dan, it depends on if you have the early narrow or wider 85/86 wheels. I have a 150 Michelin on the rear on mine but it is 3.5 inches wide. Ray.

It's the 3.5" one I think Ray... it would actually be the set you sold to Nessism

What tyre are you running? A Ply or a Radial? Are we talking street or drag?

It's a street tire Dan, I will go out & check which exact Michelin it is & if you call me around 8:00 tonight, at 714-356-7845, I'll give you the info. Ray.

            stock sizes are for 1984 are....rear 130/90 v17, or 140/80 v17 and on the front 110/90 v16, or 120/80 v16.
I can't tell any difference as i'm always switching brands, but the 80 aspect ration on the front seems to cup quicker.

              It's got a 140 on there now.. with a 120 on the front. I think both 80's.

Metlzler MESSa on the rear & Metzler ME33 on the front. I'll have to go check the spec exactly.

It looks like the 140 is very close to the torque arm (it's been squashed a little to make room by the looks of it) & the swingarm on the RHS but actually quite a lot of space on the left, weird...

                  You mean the 750

Not Rich's - I just bought another 83 GS750ES for $500. Needs carb work, tyres & is tatty but it runs & pretty good mechanically. 2 owners, last one since 86. 30k miles.

We've poached the fairing for Rich's bike (I prefer the round headlight look anyway) & I am going to play with it....

Question is whether to put an 1150 wheel set on it, (Ed has a set in his garage doing nowt, we think rear is a bolt on, front may need to be machined depending on what I do with the brakes) new rear shock, sort out the fork springs & a brake upgrade or simply switch out the whole front end & put a GSXR rear wheel on it with some radials...

Looks like I could run these radials on the 1150 wheels or roadriders... http://www.avon-tyres.co.uk/motorcyc...showtyre&id=18

My 84 1150 and 750 had different diameter rear axles, so a wheel swap was not so straightforward.
                    Current:
Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha )

                    Past:
                    VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....

Nothing more than a bearing and bearing support swap needed.
