sand smooth and replate with blackchrome?

other then that try some real mild chrome polish and see if it messes up the black chrome?

i need to polish my kat pipes too and have been holding off since i am scared i am going to scratch them up.

Have not tried it on exhaust pipes, but have modest success using aluminum foil as a polishing rag.

The tongue on my trailer is chrome and tends to get some rust over the winter. Every spring I rub it with some aluminum foil, wash it down, then spray some clear polyurethane on it to seal it for the summer. Seems to do quite well.

neverdull or flitz does this quite well for this. you can get them at autozone or any farm and fleet. also brasso (at kmart/walmart) works good, thats what we used in the marine corps to clean our weapons and it never ruined the bluing or any plated pieces. cliff
